Balscote is a pretty little village, built mainly of the local dark honey-coloured ironstone.
The parish church, the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, is in an elevated position in the centre of the village. The earliest features of St. Mary's include a Norman font and an Early English style window. Most of the present church building is 14th century, in the Decorated Gothic style.
Balscote is about 4 miles west of Banbury, just south of the A422 Banbury to Stratford-upon-Avon road.
