SOMERTON
Somerton is a small village which has a rather grand parish church. Much of St. James' Church is in the Decorated Gothic style. In the nave is a Norman carved doorway which dates from the 11th century. St. James' also has features from the 13th, 15th and 16th centuries. Outside the church is a medieval preaching cross.
Somerton is close to the River Cherwell and adjacent to the Oxford Canal and the Oxford to Banbury railway line, about 6 miles north-west of Bicester.
